From Frustration to Solution
Upkit started in 2024 when our founder, Alex, found himself spending more time analyzing job postings and writing proposals than actually doing client work. As a Top Rated Plus freelancer on Upwork, Alex had developed mental frameworks for quickly evaluating opportunities—but the process was still time-consuming.
"I realized I was essentially running the same analysis checklist in my head for every job," Alex recalls. "Check the client's history. Look for red flags in the description. Estimate if the budget is realistic. Then spend 30-60 minutes crafting a proposal that might not even get read."
The idea was simple: what if AI could do the analysis instantly and help generate personalized proposals that actually sounded like you wrote them? Not generic templates, but proposals built on your real experience and written in your voice.
Alex teamed up with Sarah (product), Marcus (AI), and Emily (success) to build the tool they wished existed. After months of development and testing with real freelancers, Upkit was born.
